Thanks to the use of new technologies, old business models are going away, replaced by new solutions. Technology changes the production processes, influences the companies' external and internal communication, but also transforms the customers' expectations. This does not mean, however, that a company should modernise at all cost and implement all the newest solutions available on the market. First of all, it needs to self-analyse, indentify the difficulties and define hard to achieve goals, confront them with the strategy and only then think about whether technology may provide the right solution.

The companies aware of the need to transform, but still using the old business models, must realise that IT transformation and digital transformation are not the same. The company must undergo the first in order to start on the second.

Modern ways to build and deliver software for teams of any scale.

DevOps is a major change in the way we operate, reducing the gap between the operation and development teams. It is more of a cultural change – using a set of automation tools to improve coordination between teams. DevOps effectively increases the speed, frequency, reliability, scale of software releases and allows you to deliver products at a faster pace than organisations using traditional software development.

In the Scrum Guide you can read that Scrum framework is lightweight, simple to understand and difficult to master – and we couldn't agree more with this statement.  In TomTom we are aiming to be a truly Agile organization which – among others – means being open to inevitable change, learning from it and adapting to the dynamic environment in which we are working every day. We want to share with you our experience in moving towards this goal.

This workshop's purpose is to give you an introduction to one of the Agile frameworks - basic understanding of what it means to work in a Scrum team. This workshop is mainly designed for the people who haven’t worked in Agile/Scrum yet.

Be prepared for some exercises!

Nearly all of us have a use for Microsoft Office documents. Whether they are work documents, e-receipts, or a lease on a new apartment – Office documents are useful to all of us, and this is part of the reason we’re very likely to open an office document we receive as an attachment in e-mail. Armed with the knowledge that many people will open nearly any document, even those from an untrusted source, adversaries commonly choose these files in attacks to compromise a system. We will show you five different ways that Office documents can be subverted and abused to attack and compromise a Windows endpoint, some we’ve already posted about before, and some are new.

Presenter: Liat Hayun, Palo Alto Networks;

An integral part of everyday data scientist’s job is to communicate her technical work in a way which can be understood by business executives and helps them make informed decisions. In this workshop you’ll learn methods to effectively translate technical outputs from analysis and modelling into insights.

Presenter: Magdalena Krupa, BCG Gamma; Marcin Strzelczyk, BCG Gamma;

The focus of this workshop will be creating curiosity, and the general concept of Being Forward Compatible (strongly related to the Future of Work). Another important subject is creating the growth mindset, in order to help individuals in shifting the behaviours related to the 6 attributes making up this concept. These attributes can be useful to any organisation, which makes the workshop a universal starting point for anyone. It will include a short self-assessment and some reading (preferably in advance before the workshop, if possible), peer coaching sessions, group work, and individual reflection, so each participant can leave with a strong idea of what to do differently and how.

Data are a precious resource of each company – how are they continuously fuelling the digital transformation?

As consumers demand access to high-speed ubiquitous services at ever-reducing costs, networks must evolve to be agile and low cost. Samsung is at the heart of new technologies and standards designed to support price-sensitive time-to-market delivery of services. RAN and Core Network Virtualisation, 5G, Smart Home and the latest smartphones are in our DNA. As such, we are strongly positioned to realise mobile network virtualisation.

In our presentation we will describe how cloud computing is utilised to build 5G virtualised services based on OpenStack, Kubernetes, CEPH, to deliver virtualised infra and based on that configure distributed networks using SDN techniques utilising MANO, ONOS and Java. It will be presented how various technologies and programming languages (C, C++, Python, Java) are used to deliver such complex systems with low latency requirements and carrier grade HA requirements. During presentation Samsung will elaborate how PaaS solutions such as DBaaS, LBaaS can be used to deliver VNFs and how such complex deployments can be managed using ONAP framework.
