Alicja Łakomska, IoT Team, T-Mobile Polska
Five years ago, in 2019, I participated in the Summit while still a high school student. It was an eye-opening experience because, with only three girls and twenty-seven boys in my math-focused class, I had not seen much representation of women in STEM. The Summit showed me that women are welcomed in the tech industry.
I attended the XIV High School of Stanisław Staszic, recognised as the best high school in Poland. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in IoT Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. Alongside my studies, I have been gaining valuable experience working at T-Mobile.
My impressions after participating in this year's Summit 2024? The scale at which this unique event has expanded in the last four years amazed me. Even though I thought it was huge five years ago, I was impressed this year by the multiple stages and distinct halls for businesses and institutions. Taking part in an event that attracted 10,000 participants and brought attention to women in technology was wonderful.
This year's Summit was definitely one to remember. For two days, I had the opportunity to meet exciting and ambitious women who are achieving success in technology and to participate in interesting panels and lectures. Seeing so many people interested in the future of technology was truly inspiring.
I am passionate about technology, especially its use in solving people's problems and enhancing their quality of life. Additionally, I am interested in popularising science. From a societal perspective, engaging the youngest children in how exciting science can be is essential.
