Katarzyna Kalend – A member of the Board of Women in Nuclear Poland and a specialist building her career at the intersection of science and large-scale infrastructure projects in the nuclear sector. She began her career at the National Center for Nuclear Research, where, as the first and only woman in Poland to operate the Maria research reactor, she gained experience in research work and the laboratory environment. She was also involved in the SMR program at ORLEN Synthos Green Energy, where she focused on building expertise and human resources for the nuclear sector. Today, working at the Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility as a Senior Specialist in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, she participates in the practical implementation of solutions critical to the safety of nuclear energy in Poland. In her work, she focuses on building bridges between science and industry. Her career path—from the laboratory to participating in the implementation of strategic investments—demonstrates the diverse and inspiring opportunities offered by the nuclear industry.
