Urszula Foryś is a chair of the Section of Biomathematics and Game Theory, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw (UW). She obtained a PhD in applied mathematics, habilitation in biomedical engineering, ending with the Professor's title in mathematics. She is a vice-president of Polish Women in Mathematics and a member of the board of the Polish Mathematical Society. She is the winner of the Hugo Steinhaus Prize 2025, awarded for achievements in applied mathematics. Starting from graduated studies, she was involved in mathematical modeling of the immune response that evolved into tumor-immune reactions. Modeling of tumor growth and therapy is her main research topic, carried out in cooperation with the Institute for Medical Biomathematics in Israel and MOLAB at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain. She is interested in the work of interdisciplinary centers related to oncology. She is also the author of the text-book “Mathematics in Biology’’ (in Polish), which forms the basis of many mathematical biology courses at Polish universities.
